THE LAST HURRAH
MUSIC LEGENDS

The Last Hurrah Music Legends Wall of Fame

We often talked about creating a Music Legends display or a Wall of Fame at The Last Hurrah.  But by the time we fully realized how cool and appropriate this would be, many bands had disappeared and we couldn’t find promotional pictures.  So the idea lingered. During our final months, Mike and I researched our record again.  Mike determined that well over 500 bands had played at the Hurrah.  Then we listed our top bands for recognition during our final days or for listing on our Last Hurrah Portland Tour t-shirts and Last Hurrah Last Shot Commemorative Certificate.

While many great bands played at The Last Hurrah, here are the bands we considered to be Music Legends.  We have broken them into three five year periods with some overlap. They are listed in no particular order.   Strong cases can be made for including these and other deserving bands in our Music Legends, and we apologize if we’ve inadvertently left out any legendary musician or band.  At some point we had to limit these nominations.  Some weren’t nominated merely because they either didn’t last long enough to rise to a “legend” status (ex. Orange Orange) or just didn’t play enough dates at the Hurrah specifically to be listed on our Wall of Fame.  Brown Sugar, The Holy Modal Rounders, Clamtones and many of Portland’s great jazz musicians and indy rock bands are examples of bands that aren’t listed for these reasons.
